Who Pom is

Pom is Starbreed’s collectible mascot and a late-file completion flag, not the first ally you should min-max for boss DPS. English VO is InvaderNoodles, who also voices Freya. Development posts spent real time on Pom’s model and on Pom’s Data Chips—one hidden chip per combat stage, with hints in the H-scene room. This page stays spoiler-safe on adult options. We will say that 11 chips unlock a specific H-scene menu action tied to the The Future is Now achievement, and stop there.

Itch comments complain that chip bonuses feel ordered for post-game (Pom rewards late, affection bonuses early). Play around that: do not wait until everyone is at 100 Affinity to start hunting. Start chips when bosses are already solved.

Data Chips are her track

Every selectable combat level hides one Data Chip. Hints live in the hub H-scene room; in-game objective text is often vague or trap-like. Mechanical primer: Data Chips Guide. Checkbox sheet: Data Chip Checklist. Named stage verbs now include Pearlus 1–2, Titas, Zol’gan, Finale 1 No Help, and the Catiya / Raptura / Molbon / Neos pairs.

4 chips unlock a new option on the Aether screen tied to clone content and the I am the Captain Now! achievement. 11 chips plus the menu action unlock The Future is Now. Combining that with Nova’s trial path and finishing crew Trials feeds StarBREED. Route those names on Achievements without treating this page as a scene script.

Power Cells (Pom passive function)

After you complete Neos, Pom’s passive function can spawn a box once per level. Destroy it for a Power Cell: unlimited Thrust for a stretch while the jetflame reads yellow. That is a chip-hunt and medal tool, not a substitute for Assertion investment. Pair with Controls so you still know how to brake when the yellow runs out.

If the box never appears, confirm Neos is actually cleared and that you are on a full combat stage, not a hub scene.

Combat ranking

On Allies Tier List, Pom is completion / utility, often B or situational C for raw Finale DPS. Neural Link and chip income matter more than her personal delete button. Field her when you are on a chip night or when you want Power Cell practice. Field Siren and MITE Drones when you are on Finale2.

Affinity still exists as a row on Affinity Checklist. Chips do not raise Affinity. Keep the two trackers honest.

Shop and economy

Chips massively boost Credits. Tanya’s buyout wants all chips plus Gold medals, max Brothel reputation, and max crew Affinity—see Tanya and Brothel. If Pom rewards feel “late,” that is a known design complaint; use the income anyway.

Hunt discipline

Never chip-hunt during a blind boss. Read the hint, pick the verb (stay in Real World, kill escorts, let the golem finish Pigman, destroy only pink wires), then one focused replay. Pom’s page is a reminder that exploration is a pillar, not a side quest you can ignore until credits roll.

Power Cell practice

After Neos, pick an easy replay and hunt the box first, then the chip. Yellow flame is a timer: practice brake while you have infinite Thrust so you remember S when the color drops. Assertion still matters afterward. If chip income feels back-loaded, that matches itch notes—spend the Credits on Neural Link anyway. Pom is the mascot of patience, not a Siren substitute on Finale2.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common Starbreed questions.

How many Data Chips are there?

One per combat level, including Pearlus, Titas, Zol’gan, and Finale variants. Use the checklist so none are skipped.

What do 4 and 11 chips unlock?

4 chips open an Aether-screen clone option (Captain achievement). 11 chips enable a Pom-related H-scene menu action (The Future is Now).

What is a Power Cell?

After Neos, Pom can spawn a per-level box. Break it for a yellow-flame unlimited Thrust burst.

Who voices Pom?

InvaderNoodles, also credited for Freya.

Do chips raise Affinity?

No. Parallel track. Mark both checklists separately.

Should I main Pom for bosses?

Usually no. Use her for chip nights and Power Cells; use Siren and delete kits for Finale2.
