Starbreed Credits Shop Guide
What to buy after every stage clear
Credits are your meta currency
Clearing Starbreed levels rewards Credits. The shop turns those Credits into weapon types, upgrades, pinups, and other hub cosmetics or power toys. Because the game is a rail shooter first, your purchase order matters more than your wallpaper order. This guide sets spending priorities for the released July 30, 2026 build on Steam and itch.io (~$10.99, single-player).
Priority ladder
- Reliable primary weapon that matches your aim—see Weapons Tier List. Burst tools (including MITE-style drone primaries introduced in development) reward downtime stacking; continuous beams reward tracking.
- Survivability upgrades that shorten the gap Resolve has not yet filled (Resolve and Assertion).
- Utility unlocks that support chip hunts and boss phases (Data Chips, Bosses).
- Pinups and cosmetics after you can clear without rage quits.
- Experimental weapons for fun once Affinity and Trials are on track.
What Credits do not buy
- Affinity (earn via parties and talks—Affinity Guide)
- Resolve / Assertion (Aether tab investments)
- Automatic ending flags (Endings)
- Data Chips (exploration)
- multiplayer tokens (there is single-player only)
Farming Credits efficiently
Replay stages you already understand. Bring a strong shell from Party Comps even if you swap one slot for Affinity farming. Pause with Space/Esc to reduce deaths that waste time (Controls). After EX passives from Impregnation Trials, farm speed often jumps—reinvest surplus into leftover shop rows.
Shop and romance balance
Pinups are part of the 18+ fantasy presentation. Buy them when you want; just do not spend your first boss payout on cosmetics while Nova still deletes you. Keep Getting Started priorities until mid-campaign comfort.
Platform notes
Steam and itch both grant the game; Credits are save-progress, not cross-store inventory. Linux and Windows itch builds should share design rules even if performance differs (System Requirements). Watch Patch Notes if prices or weapon stats shift.
Example first 1,000 Credits mindset
- 50–60% into a weapon you can aim under stress
- 30% into defense / QoL power
- Remainder parked for the next unlock wave
Track loadouts in the Party Planner so you remember why you bought an item.

Midgame shopping waves
Once you own a comfort primary, stop impulse-buying every new row the day it appears. Clear two stages, note which bosses punished your kit, then buy the counter. That rhythm pairs naturally with Boss Guides and keeps Credits from evaporating on novelty.
Late game, EX passives may change which weapon archetype feels best. Re-open the shop after Trials instead of assuming your demo-era favorite still leads. Keep a written “why I bought this” line in the Party Planner so future-you remembers the plan.
Pinups without guilt
Cosmetics are part of the 18+ presentation fantasy. Buy them when clears are stable. If you are still failing mid bosses, every Credit is a practice tool first. The gallery will wait; pattern literacy will not teach itself.
Extra note for credits-shop
Re-check sibling links in this category before your next launch, and confirm Credits or Affinity goals still match your save after the latest shop visit.
