Starbreed Finale2 Nova Rush
Three Novas, then ending talks
Spoiler warning
This page names Finale2, the fight Expectations of the Exalted, ending titles, and the Supernova achievement. Skip it until you have beaten the last planet once if you want a blind credit roll. Adult scene text stays out.
Finale2 is the hardest combat wall in the released 1.0 campaign: three versions of Nova in a row, then a talk that spends Assertion, Resolve, and dialogue tone on Endings. The talk can dump you into Nova’s Impregnation Trial (gold 32—the only mandatory trial on some lists).
Safe loadout (community default)
- Primary: MITE Drones so homing damage works while you dodge area attacks
- Generator: 50% Thrust class
- Heal: Siren — treat as mandatory; HP may not drop until the second boss is down, which fools Resolve tanks
- Flex: Pix or Lana
- Aether: enough Assertion to dodge, enough Resolve to survive one clip (Aether)
Tanya bubble is optional collision insurance, not a Siren replacement. Rooster is a challenge flex, not the wiki default.
Neural Link from Tanya’s shop helps chip-adjacent Finale 1 No Help runs more than this rush; still buy it if you own the Credits. Party planner sheet: Party Planner.
How to fly the rush
- Phase one: learn lanes. Do not dump both party actives.
- Phase two: this is where delayed HP rules bite. Keep Siren’s heal for density, not for empty sky. Her passive overdrives during heal.
- Phase three: area attacks get huge. Drones pepper; you dodge. Pause (Space / Esc or Start) is legal.
- After the fight, talk to Nova. Tone plus stats pick the ending.
- Expect Nova’s Trial. Hit 27 eggs before the large thank-you egg (+5) if you need gold 32.
Barrel rolls beat panic boosting. Controls primer: Controls and Controller if you are on a pad or Deck.
Ending flags at the talk
- Assertion 100 + merciful tone → King of Catiya (also a Steam achievement name)
- Let Nova join the crew + merciful tone → Family Man
- Resolve 100 + justice tone → Brothel branch A Better Life (Brothel)
- None of the above → Peace Restored
Backup the save before the talk if you want all titles on one file. Replay Finale2 as Nova at least once for Supernova. Campaign-progress achievements such as All Bark!, You’re Next, Nova!, and Conqueror often pop during the grind toward these numbers—see Achievements.
Finale 1 versus Finale2
Finale 1 has a Data Chip that wants the Play (No Help) start plus Neural Link passives and a defensive thruster (Blink / Barrel Roll class) while yarn balls melt the bar—Data Chips. Solve that chip after you can survive the fight, not on the blind first try.
Finale2 is the Nova rush plus ending talk. Do not mix chip greed into the first rush attempt.

If you keep wiping
Change the heal, not only the gun. If Siren is already onboard, lower graphical load on Deck, confirm MITE Drones are actually equipped, and stop spending both actives in phase one. Three controlled attempts with pause notes beat twelve tilted retries.
Shop and medal context
You do not need Tanya’s full buyout to attempt the rush, but Gold medals on earlier planets and Neural Link make the Finale 1 No Help chip faster. If Credits are short, farm an easy planet with a delete shell instead of retrying Finale2 broke. After the first clear, sweep endings, then chips, then Trials. Mixing all three on night one is how people burn the backup save.
