Starbreed Tanya Guide
Shopkeeper, bubble shield, Neural Link backbone
Who Tanya is
Tanya is the Starbreed ally who quietly runs the economy and a huge slice of late-game combat math. Voice credits list BordeauxBlack for Tanya and Tiger. In the 1.0 hub she is the face of Tanya’s Shop: Credits weapons, defensive generators, pinups, and the Neural Link upgrade that lets you inherit allied passives once you have earned it. This page stays spoiler-safe on adult scenes. Unlock conditions, combat verbs, and shop routing only.
Treat Tanya as two systems wearing one name. In the party she is a bubble-shield specialist. In the hub she is the merchant you cannot 100% without. If you only field her for romance, you will still meet her register every time you buy MITE Drones or a thrust generator.
Unlock and campaign presence
Tanya arrives after the early Catiya / Lana teaching band, once the galaxy map starts treating Credits as a real budget instead of pocket change. Follow hub prompts after mid-planet clears; if the shop UI exists but she is not in the party list yet, you are gating a story beat, not a secret chip. Confirm the node on Levels Walkthrough rather than grinding pinups.
Apparel historically moved into Tanya’s shop so clothes stopped living only in dialogue. That is why her page sits next to Credits Shop as much as next to Lana.
Combat kit (spoiler-safe verbs)
Active — impregnable bubble / shield. Tanya pops a shield you can actually shoot while it is deactivated. The trap on her Impregnation Trial and on several chip hunts is ramming walls with the bubble always on. Better habit: steer through openings yourself, then shoot the inactive shield through clusters so the projectile punches geometry that your primary cannot.
Passive — shop / Neural Link identity. Tanya’s long-term power is not a bigger gun. Once Neural Link is owned, her passive stays relevant even when she is not in the current trio, because the upgrade is designed to keep allied passives working. That is why completionists buy Neural Link before they try the Catiya 2 sixty-second Nova melt chip or Finale 1 No Help chip. Details live on Data Chips.
Wall-through tools that pair with her: MITE Drones, Fire Wave, Flame Charge, and Lana’s enhanced active. If a chip sits behind rock or a building, Tanya is often the cheap answer instead of a new primary.
Shop buyout (completion)
Buying out Tanya’s Shop is a late checklist, not a mid-campaign impulse. Community 100% routes ask for Gold medals on all missions, all Data Chips, max Brothel reputation, and max Affinity on the crew. Excess Affinity and unused Brothel stamina convert into Credits; chips also inflate income. Run a few extra missions if the last generator is 200 Credits short rather than restarting the file.
Neural Link is the shop item that changes routing more than cosmetics. After it lands, rebuild shells in the Party Planner because “who is onboard” and “whose passive is active” are no longer identical questions.
Affinity and Trial
Track Tanya on the Affinity Checklist at 0 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100. At 100, her Trial gold target is 210. Damage hits deduct 10; two hits usually fail a gold attempt. Walls in her Trial also deduct on touch. Brake, shoot the dormant shield through packs, and do not treat the bubble as a ram. Full gold table: Trial Scores.
Where Tanya wins fights
- Raptura 1 chip: escort ships can be rammed with the bubble or deleted with Pix satchels.
- Pearlus 1 chip: wall-hack sea monster needs a through-geometry attack.
- Zol’gan 2 chip: bubble can eat falling rocks if you refuse to learn the drop pattern.
- Finale2: she is not the default heal; that job is Siren. Tanya is the safety net when you still mis-time rolls.
Rank her honestly on Allies Tier List. Shield kits look S-tier until you start firing into your own bubble. They become S-tier again when you treat the shield as a gun.

Common mistakes
Leaving the bubble on forever, ignoring Neural Link until Finale, and assuming shop pinups raise Affinity. They do not. Field Tanya, talk, then spend Credits on tools that match the next planet’s verb—escort, ice, sandstorm, or Nova rush.
